As time approaches for expectant parents and in those early months at home, it’s important to provide relationship assurance for your toddler. For example: “I need to feed the baby and put her/him down for a nap. Let’s cuddle up and read a story after baby falls asleep.”

Allow your toddler to help out whenever possible, picking out baby’s pajamas at bedtime or handing you a diaper when changing baby. Ask your toddler to help “you” rather than the baby. Be patient with your toddler. In time, a wonderful relationship will blossom between the siblings!
